2048 fruit merge puzzle
Fruit Merge
What is Fruit Merge?
Fruit Merge is a 2048-style sliding puzzle played on a 4×4 board. Instead of numbers, fruits stack up in tiers: two cherries make a strawberry, two strawberries make grapes, and so on through orange, apple, peach, pineapple and melon up to the watermelon, which clears the game. It runs in the browser with no install or sign-up.
Every swipe slides the whole board one way and spawns a new fruit — usually a cherry — in an empty cell. When no move is left, the run ends, so the whole game is about merging in time to keep cells free. There is no undo, so look before you slide.
How to play
- Use the arrow keys on desktop, or swipe on mobile.
- The board slides that way and matching fruits merge into the next tier.
- A new fruit appears in an empty cell after every move.
- The run ends when no move is left. Reach the watermelon to clear it.
Strategy
- Anchor your biggest fruit in one corner and never let it move.
- Retire one direction so the anchor row stays intact; use it only when nothing else works.
- Order a row from largest at the corner to smallest, so one slide chains several merges.
- Watch empty cells, not score. Two cells left already means trouble.
Why beginners fail
The usual mistake is swiping in all four directions at random. Big fruits scatter, block each other and never meet their pair. Locking one direction and keeping the largest fruit in a corner raises your best tier immediately. This is a grid game, not a physics one, so move order matters far more than luck.

Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as 2048?
Same family of rules. Fruits replace the numbers, and the watermelon stands in for 2048.
Is there an ending?
Reaching the watermelon clears it; after that you chase a higher score on the global leaderboard.
Is there an undo?
No.
How is it different from Planet Merge?
Planet Merge is a physics drop-and-roll game; Fruit Merge is a sliding grid puzzle. Only the merging idea is shared.
Do I drop fruits from above?
No. Use arrow keys or swipes to slide the entire grid and merge fruits.
Why keep empty cells?
A new fruit appears after a move. You need space for future merges.
